Kremlin Provides No Information on Bashar al-Assad's Residence in Russia

The Kremlin provides no information about Bashar Assad’s residence in Russia

Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, announced that Russia cannot provide any information about the residence of former Syrian President Bashar Assad in Russia.

On Monday, December 1st, Peskov responded to the question of whether the Kremlin could provide details about Assad’s stay in Russia or any possible meetings with Vladimir Putin, saying, ‘No, we cannot release any information on this matter.’

Last month, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Moscow had accommodated Assad and his family in Russia for purely humanitarian reasons.

At the same time, Lavrov mentioned that there were serious threats to the lives of Assad and his family, and Russia had to move them for their protection.

In February of the previous year, a video of Hafez Assad, Bashar Assad’s son, was released on social media, showing him in a luxurious location in Moscow. In the video, Hafez talked about the last days before the regime’s fall, saying, ‘We were not supposed to flee Syria, but after the collapse of Damascus, Russia quickly transferred us to Moscow.’
