Severe Pollution Has Brought Urban Life in Tehran to a Semi-Halt

Severe pollution has brought urban life in Tehran to a semi-shutdown state.

The Tehran Air Quality Control Company has announced that with the continuation of severe air pollution, the air quality in Tehran on Monday, December 1st, was declared unhealthy for all groups, or red, for the tenth consecutive day.

Pollution in Tehran and some other cities in Iran was at a level that educational centers became remote and the activities of executive bodies were reduced.

Two days ago, with the decision of the Tehran Air Pollution Emergency Task Force, remote education was extended for another two days.

Since the beginning of this year, Tehran has experienced only 6 days of clean air up to November 25th.

During this period, Tehran had 106 days unhealthy for sensitive groups and 16 days unhealthy for all groups.

Some other provinces in Iran also have a more or less similar situation in terms of pollution intensity.
