Marco Rubio: Venezuela is the main base of influence for the Islamic Republic and Lebanese militias in South America.
Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, on the morning of Wednesday, December 2nd, and on Tuesday night local time, described the military presence of the Islamic Republic and Lebanese militias on Venezuelan soil as one of the reasons for the crisis in Washington’s relations with Caracas in an exclusive interview with Fox News.
Rubio, who is a staunch supporter of regime change in Venezuela, said that in addition to the issue of drug trafficking and migration, Venezuela is also a base for Iran’s influence in the South American region. The Islamic Republic and even Lebanese militias are present in South America, and one of their main bases, especially for Iranians, is inside Venezuela.
The Islamic Republic has planted its flag in the Western Hemisphere on Venezuelan soil, with the full and open cooperation of the Maduro regime.
Relations between the Islamic Republic and Venezuela have significantly increased since Hugo Chavez came to power.
After Chavez’s death and Nicolas Maduro’s rise to power, these relations continue.
