Environmental Organization Admits Pardisan Bear Cub Still Missing

The case of the disappearance of the Pardisan bear cub has entered a new phase after months of silence and contradictory statements, following new remarks from one of the directors of the Environmental Protection Organization.

Masoumeh Safaei, Deputy Director of the Wildlife Office, confirmed in an interview with ILNA on Thursday, December 3, that the responsible agencies have no clues regarding the fate of this bear cub.

She said the lack of simple equipment like cameras and monitoring systems has resulted in the inability to determine the animal’s status after it left its enclosure.

Safaei dismissed reports of widespread animal evacuation as incorrect and explained that the organization’s new focus is on returning treated animals to the wild and transferring non-releasable cases to standard centers.

She pointed out that years of animal accumulation have diverted Pardisan from its main function, stating that this center was not originally designed for long-term care, which has caused numerous problems.

In another part of her remarks, Safaei once again emphasized that the bear cub is missing and mentioned various possibilities, ranging from the animal escaping to it potentially being taken by individuals who were in the park area.

She also reported the presence of seven black bear cubs in Pardisan and said that the bear enclosure, which had been neglected for a long time, is now being renovated and will be made safer and more standard with the installation of cameras and electric fencing.
