The European Union Aviation Agency declared flights by European companies over Iran to be unsafe.
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has advised European airlines to avoid flying in Iranian airspace until further notice. This warning was issued amidst rising tensions between the Islamic Republic and the United States following the violent suppression of public protests in Iran.
According to EASA, the presence and potential use of a wide range of weapons and air defense systems, along with unpredictable governmental reactions, create a high risk for civilian flights at all altitudes and flight levels.
The agency emphasized that the current conditions seriously threaten the safety of passenger flights, and airlines must consider the existing risks in their flight planning.
