The Washington Post, quoting individuals aware of the planning for the meeting between senior Iranian and American officials in Istanbul, has reported that Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law, will also be present in these negotiations.
According to this report, Steve Witkoff, the special representative of the U.S. President for Middle Eastern affairs, Jared Kushner, and Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian Foreign Minister, are among the figures present in these talks. The Washington Post has described this meeting as one of the few face-to-face negotiations between Iranian and American officials.
According to this newspaper, the initiative for holding the Iran-U.S. negotiations was started with Turkey’s mediation. The White House has not yet responded to media requests for comment on these talks.
Previously, reports had been published stating that these negotiations would begin within the next three days, but informed sources say the planning might change at any moment.
According to this report, Steve Witkoff is currently in Tel Aviv and is scheduled to meet with Israeli security officials today.
