Immediate appointment of a caretaker for the Ministry of Intelligence after the killing of Khatib

The President’s office announced that a caretaker for the Ministry of Intelligence has been appointed immediately after the recent attack that killed the Minister of Intelligence.

The Deputy of Communications and Information of the President’s office stated that after the killing of Ismail Khatib, the Minister of Intelligence, a caretaker has been appointed for this ministry.

Mehdi Tabatabai wrote in a message on the social network X that this decree was issued and communicated immediately after the minister was killed.

He added, without mentioning the name of the appointed person, that information regarding this matter will be provided at the appropriate time.

Ismail Khatib was killed on March 16, 2026, during an Israeli attack on Tehran.
