In this session, UN Secretary-General António Guterres emphasized that no country should jeopardize global maritime security, referring to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
He considered the current situation of this strategic waterway and its consequences as one of the most significant international threats in recent years, describing it as the third major global crisis following the COVID-19 pandemic and the Ukraine war.
Guterres also warned about the widespread impacts of this situation on the global economy and supply chain.
