According to Iran Gate News Agency, retirees of Bank Mellat are not relinquishing the lucrative seats on the board of directors of the bank and its large subsidiaries at any cost, to the extent that even the minister’s power cannot reach this group. A retiree who does not let go of Bank Mellat, the minister’s directive for rejuvenation was trampled. The Minister of Economy, in a directive dated October 2, 2025, called for the dismissal of retired elderly individuals and their replacement with young people. However, one of these retirees is Morteza Najaf. He retired about ten years ago and has been sitting on the board of directors of the financial group of Bank Mellat for years, contrary to the law, receiving two salaries from Bank Mellat, both a retirement pension and a salary as a full-time board member of the Mellat Financial Group, which is a wonder of the times. The continuation of this situation not only contradicts the letter of the law but also blocks generational circulation and deprives young and skilled managers of opportunities.
