Rubio: No country has the right to charge tolls for the Strait of Hormuz
Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, emphasized that no country or party has the right to charge tolls or fees from ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz as this waterway is an international route.
Speaking during his trip to the United Arab Emirates, he added that international laws support the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and countries in the region agree with this viewpoint.
Rubio also stated that as long as groups supported by Iran continue their missile attacks, achieving lasting peace in the region will be difficult, and this issue will be reviewed in the future.
Regarding Lebanon, the U.S. Secretary of State stressed that Washington will work directly with the Lebanese government, and the future of Lebanon will be determined by its people.
Rubio’s statements come at a time when the issue of the Strait of Hormuz and how it is managed has become one of the main topics of recent diplomatic negotiations and developments in the region.
