Reuters: Iran and U.S. Agreement Has Weakened Netanyahu's Political Position

Reuters: The Iran-US agreement has weakened Netanyahu’s political position

Reuters, citing analysts and former American officials, reported that the Iran-US agreement could weaken Benjamin Netanyahu’s political position more than anything else.

According to Reuters, Netanyahu had tried for years to present himself as the most influential figure on Washington’s policy towards Iran, but the signing of the memorandum between Tehran and Washington shows that he is now forced to accept Donald Trump’s approach.

Dennis Ross, a former American diplomat, said that Netanyahu is caught between Trump’s desire to end conflicts and the pressure from internal factions opposing any concessions, especially in Lebanon.

Aviv Bushinsky, a former advisor to the Israeli Prime Minister, also said that the Iran-US agreement is a decisive blow to Netanyahu. Not only did he lose the battle with Iran, but he also lost Trump as a friend.

Reuters added that the Israeli Prime Minister’s office did not respond to the news agency’s request for comment on this report.
