Haaretz: Trump Forced Netanyahu to Accept Gaza Ceasefire Plan in Tense Phone Call
The Haaretz newspaper, citing a new book by two New York Times reporters, reported that Donald Trump, in a phone call in September last year, pressured Benjamin Netanyahu to accept the Gaza ceasefire plan with a harsh tone and profanity.
According to this account, Trump told Netanyahu that everyone was tired of him and emphasized that he had supported him, and now he must go along with the agreement.
The book claims the phone call took place with Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff present and occurred after weeks of disagreement between Washington and Tel Aviv over the negotiation process and Israel’s military operations in Gaza.
The authors of the book say that Trump ultimately forced Netanyahu, in that same call, to accept a plan that later became the basis for a 20-point program to end the Gaza war.
