Resumption of Israeli Attacks on Lebanon Two Days After Agreement Signing

Resumption of Israeli attacks on Lebanon two days after signing the agreement

Lebanese state media reported that Israel has resumed its attacks on the country two days after signing an agreement with the Lebanese government.

These attacks occurred a day after the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that one person was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the south of the country. The Israeli army announced that it targeted Lebanese militia forces near its claimed security zone.

The Lebanese state news agency also reported several other airstrikes on Sunday. The Israeli army announced that one of its soldiers was killed in clashes in southern Lebanon.

The agreement, signed on Friday after five rounds of negotiations in Washington, is aimed at paving the way for peace between Israel and Lebanon. According to this agreement, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied areas in Lebanon is conditional on the Lebanese government disarming Lebanese militia forces.

In contrast, the Lebanese militia forces have rejected this agreement. Naim Qassem, the secretary-general of this group, described it as null and void, and the group’s supporters took to the streets on Friday night in protest against the agreement.
