CNN reports that about one-third of the ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz have chosen the coastal route of Oman.
CNN, citing data from the maritime tracking company MarineTraffic, reported that about one-third of the ships that have passed through the Strait of Hormuz in recent days have opted for the coastal route of Oman instead of the usual route. This has gained attention amid the ongoing fragile security and diplomatic environment in the region.
According to the report, from Friday to Sunday, 108 ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz, 30 of which, including tankers carrying crude oil and liquefied gas, used the coastal route of Oman.
MarineTraffic data shows that ship traffic reached its peak on Friday with 43 passages recorded, followed by 34 on Saturday and 31 on Sunday. Analysts describe this situation as active but scattered and believe this pattern should be assessed within the context of the region’s still fragile security and diplomatic conditions.
