The office of senior Republican U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham announced that he passed away on Saturday evening after a short and sudden illness
In a statement from his office, it was mentioned that Senator Graham’s family is requesting prayers and support from the public at this time and asks for their privacy to be respected during this very difficult period
Graham, a senator from South Carolina, was a prominent figure in the conservative movement in America and a staunch critic of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Over the past years, he had repeatedly supported the policy of maximum pressure against Tehran and the intensification of sanctions, considering Iran’s nuclear program, the regional activities of the Islamic Republic, and the role of Iranian-backed proxy forces as major concerns for Washington
He was also a supporter of a U.S. attack on Iran and had expressed concerns over the signing of any memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington
