Netanyahu’s spokesperson defends the description of Britain as an Islamic Republic
The spokesperson for Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, defended his remarks about Britain, describing the country as the Islamic Republic of Britain.
In an interview with Israeli Army Radio, Netanyahu referred to his meeting with Winston Churchill’s grandson, describing him as a friend of Israel, and said that such an attitude can no longer be seen in Britain.
The Israeli Prime Minister further claimed that Britain has now turned into the Islamic Republic of Britain, remarks that come amid increasing tensions between London and Tel Aviv.
The relations between Britain and Israel, which have long been considered allies, have become noticeably more tense since the Gaza war.
The British government has not yet given an official response to Netanyahu’s remarks.
