CENTCOM Commander Denies Reports of Mental Health Crisis Among USS Abraham Lincoln Sailors

The CENTCOM commander dismissed reports about the mental health crisis of the crew on the USS Abraham Lincoln.

Brett Cooper, the commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), responded to reports about the extreme fatigue and mental health issues of the USS Abraham Lincoln’s crew by stating that the mental health status of the sailors on this ship is better than that of other active U.S. ships.

Cooper stated on the X network that among the 11 active U.S. Navy ships, the crew of the Abraham Lincoln has the lowest rate of mental health-related issues.

These remarks came after some sailors’ family members expressed concern about their deteriorating mental state, and reports were released about some crew members attempting to jump off the ship’s deck.

The U.S. Navy has denied a mental health crisis on this ship but has acknowledged some issues with logistical support. Approximately five thousand people are present on the Abraham Lincoln.

The mission of this ship in Middle Eastern waters has been extended. The Abraham Lincoln has been on a naval mission for more than 250 days, equivalent to about 10 months, since last November.
