Kushner and Netanyahu’s Lengthy Consultation on the Gaza Peace Plan
Jared Kushner, the envoy of the U.S. President to the Middle East, has held lengthy talks with Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, regarding the Gaza peace plan. These discussions appear to have not yet made significant progress towards implementing the plan.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s office has described these discussions as deep and constructive.
Kushner, who is also Donald Trump’s son-in-law, had met with a delegation from the Palestinian military group in Egypt before traveling to Israel.
Last week, Netanyahu, in a position opposing Israel’s closest ally, stated that Israel rejects the 15-point document regarding Gaza, and the Israeli army will not withdraw until Hamas is truly disarmed.
Israel also demands that the weapons handed over by the Palestinian military group during disarmament be destroyed instead of being handed over to a Palestinian technocrat committee, to prevent the possibility of them being recovered.
The Gaza peace plan has been developed at the initiative of Donald Trump’s administration.
