Pezeshkian: Who said we should sell 130,000 toman gasoline for 1,500 tomans?
Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, once again criticized the low price of gasoline and the heavy cost of its subsidies, saying that despite financial constraints and problems caused by the naval blockade, the government is forced to supply gasoline at a high price and offer it at a very low rate.
Pezeshkian said, who said the government should buy gasoline for 130,000 tomans and then sell it for 1,500 tomans? He continued that due to this, we face limitations in increasing the credit for vouchers, fulfilling financial obligations to wheat farmers, insurances, and the livelihood of workers, retirees, and employees.
These statements are made in a situation where reports of import restrictions and reduced gasoline reserves have been published, and the government is considering changes in the method of rationing and pricing fuel.
The proposed plan to set a fourth gasoline quota at the free market price has faced opposition from several conservative figures and Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Parliament. Ghalibaf had previously considered raising the price of gasoline under current conditions as an uncalculated measure.
