Babak Zanjani’s Crescent lawyer is trying to seize my client’s assets in Malaysia

Rasoul Kouhpayehzadeh, the lawyer of Babak Zanjani, a major and controversial Iranian businessman, has reported that Crescent Company is attempting to halt and seize his client’s assets in Malaysia.

The Crescent case has been making headlines in Iran for more than two decades and was also one of the topics in the recent Iranian presidential election debates.

Mr. Kouhpayehzadeh says that the First Islamic Investment Bank (FIIB) in Malaysia belongs to Babak Zanjani, where the money from Mr. Zanjani’s oil transactions and the oil company was deposited.

Mr. Kouhpayehzadeh told Mehr News Agency that according to received reports, Crescent Petroleum is seeking to obtain a court order to seize the funds and reserves of the mentioned bank to recover part of its claim as part of enforcing arbitration awards against Iran.

Malaysian media have recently reported that Crescent Petroleum has focused its attention on the blocked assets in the First Islamic Investment Bank in Labuan, Malaysia.
