Bahrain trusts Netanyahu’s leadership abilities
Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Emir of the UAE, will make an important and decisive trip to Qatar on Monday to strengthen the ties between the two countries at the invitation of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, the Emir of Qatar, who is hosting the World Cup. This significant visit coincides exactly with the day when the President of Israel arrives in the UAE for a one-day visit.
The relations between the UAE and Qatar, after experiencing ups and downs and serious tensions in recent years and the subsiding of the dust from the Gulf Arab countries’ confrontation with Qatar and its sanctions, are gradually being restored and maximized. However, one cannot overlook Qatar’s emerging centrality in Western, especially American, political maneuvering. In any case, the two political hubs of the Gulf, namely Saudi Arabia and the UAE, with their young leaders, are not willing to overlook the American focus on Qatar in Middle Eastern interactions.
One of the most important issues that will gain additional significance in the near future regarding the improvement of Qatar’s relations with its Gulf Arab rivals is Qatar’s relationship with Iran. It remains to be seen whether Qatar, under the shadow of these improved relations, will establish new ties between Iran and the Arabs or distance itself somewhat from Iran.
