Ban on Residence Application in Istanbul Denied

The ban on residency applications in Istanbul has been denied

The Turkish Immigration Office has issued a statement denying reports that new residency applications are banned for all 39 districts of Istanbul province for foreign citizens.

This statement was issued following the spread of some news and reports on social networks regarding the ban on new residency applications by foreign nationals for all 39 districts of Istanbul.

The statement mentions that periodic reviews by the Immigration Office to maintain the ratio of foreign nationals in provinces, cities, and various regions of the country are ongoing. Since 2019, new residency applications for those Syrian nationals residing in Turkey under the temporary protection law have been halted.
