Baqaei: Iran is ready to clarify ambiguities regarding the nuclear issue
Ismail Baqaei, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, announced in his weekly press conference on Monday, April 21, that in the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States, Tehran’s main demand is the lifting of sanctions in a way that has a tangible and real impact on the country’s economy.
He emphasized that Iran should be able to conduct its economic, trade, and banking activities normally and ensure that past experiences are not repeated.
Baqaei said that Iran is ready to clarify the doubts raised about its nuclear program.
He explained that in the upcoming expert meeting, the framework of the discussions will be debated and if conditions are favorable, the negotiations will delve into more details.
He further added that the expert meeting will be held on Wednesday and the third round of negotiations will take place next Saturday.
In response to a question about the potential activation of the snapback mechanism by European countries, he said Europe must decide whether it wants to play a positive role in the negotiation process or continue to take an unconstructive approach.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also denied reports of Majid Takht-Ravanchi’s dialogue with the American delegation before the second round of negotiations, and emphasized that Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s presence in Rome was his personal decision.
He called on the Agency to refrain from political stances.
