Barcelona Club President: Barcelona Can Compete with Saudis to Sign Messi

The president of FC Barcelona can compete with the Saudis to sign Messi.

The president of FC Barcelona did not rule out the possibility of Lionel Messi returning to the Blaugrana.

Following Barcelona’s 27th La Liga championship win with a 4-2 victory over Espanyol last night, Sunday, Joan Laporta spoke with the Spanish publication El Mundo about the rumors of Barcelona’s interest in bringing back the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner to the Catalan club. He said, ‘I recently spoke with Messi. We are in touch with him. Leo is the best player in the world, and every coach wants to have him in their team.’

He also referred to the recent controversies surrounding Lionel Messi at Paris Saint-Germain and Al Hilal’s interest in acquiring the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, stating, ‘Messi has had some unpleasant incidents with the fans in Paris. For now, I won’t bother him. We have exchanged a few messages recently. Barcelona is Messi’s home, and Barça can compete with the Saudis and any other club to sign him.’
