Bassant: We have launched Economic Paragon Operation against Iran, sanctioning 60 individuals, entities, and ships.
Scott Bassant, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, in further explaining Washington’s new economic pressure campaign against Iran, claimed that Tehran has two paths ahead: complete global isolation or a return to normal conditions.
Bassant announced, ‘Today, on President Trump’s orders, we have launched the Economic Paragon Operation against Iran. This is an unprecedented campaign targeting Iran and those who enable and support it.’
According to the U.S. Treasury Secretary, Washington has sanctioned 60 entities, individuals, and ships related to Iran in the nuclear, missile, and oil sectors within this framework.
Bassant also claimed, ‘From today, we will intensify the pressure and block any potential source of revenue that finances the IRGC and the Iranian government.’ He added that the U.S. will pursue a policy aimed at preventing the circumvention of restrictions and the flow of revenue to Iran.
The U.S. Treasury Secretary also warned that any company that, according to him, launders money for Iran will be removed from the U.S. dollar system.
In another part of his speech, Bassant addressed the Iranian military forces, saying, ‘When your paychecks stop one after the other or seem to be just delayed, ask yourselves whether your commanders are leading the country towards victory or ruin.’
He then, referring to the fall of the Berlin Wall, claimed, ‘Remember that the Berlin Wall collapsed when ordinary soldiers decided not to shoot at their own people.’
Bassant also warned countries and entities cooperating with Tehran not to underestimate the cost of testing Washington’s resolve.
The U.S. Treasury Secretary further stated, ‘Now is the time for world leaders to choose between the U.S. and Iran.’
Regarding Washington’s deadline for achieving the goals of this campaign, Bassant said, ‘I do not want to set a deadline, but our patience is not infinite either.’
