BBC World Service: Iranian protesters fear going to hospitals
BBC World Service has aired a report about the fear of injured Iranian protesters to go to hospitals
The report states that while the Revolutionary Guard uses live ammunition and pellet bullets against protesters, many of the injured avoid hospitals because there are reports of people being arrested in emergency rooms
The program continues to mention that volunteers with little or no medical training try to treat these individuals at home, resulting in no reliable statistics on the number of deaths and injuries in the anti-government protests
The program includes interviews with two severely injured Iranians who managed to escape from their cities to seek treatment in Iraqi Kurdistan
One of them, a veterinarian, was shot while trying to help injured protesters
