Majid Tavakoli Beaten in Evin Prison

Masoud Kazemi, a journalist residing in Turkey, wrote in a tweet on Sunday that Majid Tavakoli was beaten in Ward 241 of Evin Prison in front of the prisoners’ eyes.

According to him, a few nights ago, a guard entered the ward and started cursing without reason. Majid Tavakoli objected, and the guards beat him in front of the other prisoners and then transferred him to solitary confinement.

Majid Tavakoli, a political activist, was arrested during the ongoing nationwide protests.

An image has been circulated on social media showing a banner hanging from a bridge on the Niayesh Highway in Tehran with Majid Tavakoli’s name visible on it, and it is written: ‘We have nowhere but the street, and the street means the people.’
