Ettelaat Newspaper: Before Threatening Those with Improper Hijab, Let’s Ask Ourselves

In today’s issue, Ettelaat Newspaper wrote that despite all the opinions on the necessity of change in the approach to women’s dress codes, it seems there is no intention to alter the current situation.

The newspaper further explained, let’s ask ourselves before threatening those with improper hijab and enforcing laws: Have we strived to explain the culture of hijab and chastity in Islamic mass media, including radio and television? Have we familiarized female clothing sellers, market traders, and shop owners with the culture of chastity and hijab? Do merchants and clothing exhibition holders accept the words of the chamber of commerce and unions, and do they themselves believe that Islamic principles should be observed in clothing displays?

The newspaper continued, dear officials responsible for promoting virtue, the solution to hijab in the Islamic Republic is not about arrests and crackdowns in the streets; the solution is to reform matters. This includes economic reforms, improving people’s livelihoods, ensuring a comfortable life, eliminating restrictive traditions that hinder marriage, addressing unemployment, reducing housing costs, eradicating economic poverty that leads to cultural poverty, and ultimately reforming the lifestyle of society.
