Behind the scenes of the Chamber of Commerce elections: Who is Jahanbakhsh Sanjabi?
Behind the scenes of the Chamber of Commerce elections: Who is Jahanbakhsh Sanjabi? According to Iran Gate, he is from Kermanshah, a general practitioner who is a professional tightrope walker, at least in the field of politics. When the reformists were in power, he introduced himself as a close relative of the national Sanjabis, and during the principlist era, he denied any close relationship or kinship with them.
He began his career at the forensic medicine department and through flattery and sycophancy in the 2000s, he got close to Mahmoud Rashidi, an influential man in the judiciary at the time, and through Rashidi, he approached Mohsen Taghavi, the head of the Anti-Smuggling Commission of the Expediency Discernment Council. Due to his aptitude in correspondence and drafting proposals, he managed to become the secretary of one of the committees of this commission.
Mohsen Taghavi moved to the deputy of protection at the Expediency Discernment Council, and Sanjabi accompanied him. During his time at this deputy, he repeatedly got into trouble for misuse and usurpation of titles, introducing himself as a member and staff of the Ministry of Intelligence, which caused issues with the then desk expert of the Ministry of Intelligence named Meysam, to the point that the ministry did not even approve his qualifications.
After a while, he collaborated with Taghavi in the international affairs deputy of the council and simultaneously, by using connections and misusing the title of the Expediency Discernment Council, he got close to Al-Eshaq, the head of the Iran-Iraq Chamber of Commerce, and was appointed as the Secretary-General of the Chamber by Al-Eshaq.
In the chamber, due to suspicious connections with Kurdish factions in Iraq, he got into trouble with the Ministry of Intelligence until he cooperated and gained the ministry’s satisfaction in the Iran-Iraq Chamber by providing reports, becoming a kind of informant and their pawn.
During Rouhani’s government, he went to the National Standards Organization for a while, then to the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Trade, and now in Raisi’s government, he has once again taken on a valuable role and returned to the Iran-Iraq Chamber.
Recently, due to his past errands and informant activities for security institutions, by implying that he is a representative of the Ministry of Intelligence, he is trying to influence the selection of Al-Eshaq’s preferred candidate in the Iran Chamber of Commerce.
While he has no employment or organizational relationship with the ministry, the presence and influence of notorious and chameleon-like individuals such as Sanjabi in the private and economic sector parliament only leads to the weakening and creation of corruption in this important sector. It remains to be seen whether security institutions will take action to prevent these corruptions.
What is happening behind the doors of the Chamber of Commerce? The involvement of security and governmental institutions in the Chamber of Commerce.
