Biden still considers the Chinese leader a dictator after meeting with him
The President of the United States on Wednesday, after four hours of talks with Xi Jinping, the leader of China, expressed confidence that the tense relations between the US and China are improving. He spoke of agreements between the two countries in the areas of combating the supply chain of drug production and reviving military communications between the two countries, while acknowledging that deep pressures on the tense relations between the two countries still remain.
According to CNN, Biden said that he and Xi have each agreed to speak by phone during periods of disagreement, and he considered these talks to be among the most useful and constructive negotiations between the two countries. However, he added that both sides still have differences.
Nevertheless, after a press conference, Biden said that despite the progress made during the meeting with his Chinese counterpart, he still considers Xi a dictator.
In response to a reporter’s question about whether he still believes Xi is a dictator, Biden said, ‘Yes, he is. I mean, he is the leader of a country that is run with a communist system and fundamentally differs from our form of government.’
