Biden uses a device to treat sleep apnea
Joe Biden, the President of the United States, uses a medical device to treat sleep apnea, a type of disorder that leads to repeated breathing interruptions during sleep.
According to the White House, Mr. Biden, 80, the oldest president in U.S. history, uses a CPAP device, or Continuous Positive Airway Pressure, to address this disorder.
This medical announcement was made after reporters noticed marks from the mask Mr. Biden uses at night to treat sleep apnea on his face. According to doctors, about 30 million Americans suffer from sleep apnea.
The CPAP device gently pumps air into a mask that covers the mouth and nose during sleep, keeping the airways open.
