Bijan Zangeneh, the oil minister in Rouhani’s government, filed a complaint against Zakani and Jalili.
Bijan Namdar Zangeneh, the oil minister in the governments of Mohammad Khatami and Hassan Rouhani, announced today through a letter to the Tehran public and revolutionary prosecutor that he has filed a complaint against Alireza Zakani and Saeed Jalili for their slanders and insults during the election debates.
Mr. Zangeneh wrote that the slanders and false statements made by Mr. Zakani and Mr. Jalili, claiming major corruption, betrayal, embezzlement of billions of dollars, and crimes occurring in the country without being proven in judicial authorities, are examples of slander, insult, spreading falsehoods, and defamation. According to the Islamic Penal Code and the interpretative law of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, these actions are criminal and lead to legal prosecution and punishment for those attributing such accusations.
Mr. Zangeneh had previously also released a video denying the statements made by Saeed Jalili and Alireza Zakani regarding the Crescent case.
