Bloomberg: Four Gulf countries to participate in NATO meeting
Bloomberg reported that NATO is planning to invite representatives from Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE to the upcoming alliance meeting in Ankara.
According to Bloomberg, it is expected that the foreign ministers of these countries will attend the meeting on July 7th and 8th in the Turkish capital.
These four countries are members of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative, a framework for cooperation between NATO and non-member countries in the Middle East.
Sources familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that the Iran war and growing disagreements between Europe and the U.S. will be key topics of this meeting.
The report also states that NATO, in the context of strengthening its southern flank, is seeking to expand security cooperation with the Gulf countries.
The Ankara meeting is being held amid tensions over the Iran war and the security of the Strait of Hormuz, which have created disagreements between the U.S. and its European allies.
