Bolsonaro Breaks His Silence

A few days after the second round of Brazil’s presidential elections and the president’s defeat, everyone was waiting for his reaction and public speech. His supporters, by holding public protests, blocking streets and roads, and even disrupting airports, created serious concerns about a possible electoral coup by Bolsonaro.

The right-wing Trump-like president of Brazil finally broke his silence and, in his speech, without accepting defeat or congratulating his rival, spoke of respecting and obeying the constitution. His speech was mostly dedicated to praising his supporters and referring to his own ideas. However, his chief of staff announced that the transition of power to Lula da Silva would begin, and the Supreme Court has also confirmed the start of this process.

Now everyone in Brazil is waiting for January and the eve of Lula da Silva’s return to the presidency to see Bolsonaro’s reaction in those circumstances. Bolsonaro’s extreme American supporters, like Steve Bannon, who is an advisor and close to Trump, have been claiming election fraud in Brazil for several days.
