Boris Johnson Denies Accusation of Intentionally Lying to Parliament

Boris Johnson denies the accusation of deliberately lying to Parliament

Boris Johnson, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, who remains a Member of Parliament despite stepping down as Prime Minister, has appeared before Parliament’s disciplinary committee to respond to accusations of lying to the House.

Mr. Johnson is answering the committee’s questions in official testimony under oath.

The issue being examined by the committee is whether he intentionally misled the members about attending parties during the nationwide lockdown against the COVID-19 pandemic while he was Prime Minister.

Despite his own government imposing and enforcing strict regulations on gatherings at the time, it was later revealed that several staff members at the Prime Minister’s office gathered on several occasions, and Boris Johnson was present at some of them.

He was later questioned in Parliament about this, but he said he was unaware that his presence among the office staff meant a breach of the regulations.
