Broadcast of televised confessions of Ali Younesi and Amirhossein Moradi

Channel Three of IRIB aired the televised confessions of Ali Younesi and Amirhossein Moradi, two students from Sharif University, in a segment of the documentary ‘Handmade Crime’.

The conditions under which Mr. Younesi and Mr. Moradi’s statements were recorded are unclear.

In this documentary, Ali Younesi and Amirhossein Moradi claim to be involved in the Tehran bombings and affiliated with groups opposing the regime.

Reza Younesi, Ali Younesi’s brother, referring to the broadcast of these statements on Iranian television, wrote on Twitter that the desperate regime turned to airing forced confession videos after three years, which were taken from these two young men at the age of 20 after two months of excruciating torture in absolute solitary confinement, including threats of rape and the arrest of family members, beatings, and without access to a lawyer.

Ali Younesi and Amirhossein Moradi, two elite students from Sharif University, were arrested in April 2020 and sentenced to ten years in prison.
