Ms. Valinejad suffered burns due to a gas leak from a heater and an explosion at her home and has been transferred from Khorramabad to a hospital in Isfahan. According to reports, her vital signs are stable.

Ariana Valinejad was competing in the under-23 age category and was also sent to the World Cycling Camp in South Korea earlier this year.
