Canadian Foreign Minister: We currently do not intend to restore diplomatic relations with Iran
Anita Anand, the Canadian Foreign Minister, has stated that her country does not plan to reestablish diplomatic relations with Iran at the present time.
According to Canadian media reports, Ms. Anand said on Thursday at the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Canadian Senate that Canada seeks to limit Iran’s access to nuclear weapons.
Less than two weeks ago, the head of Canada’s domestic security agency also mentioned Iran and three other countries as domestic security threats in a rare speech, stating that espionage, sabotage, and transnational repression by these four countries threaten Canada’s security.
In this speech, Dan Rogers said that agents from the U.S. internal security agency have managed to neutralize potentially deadly threats from Iran against individuals in Canada.
