Central Bank Governor: Monthly Transactions of Cryptocurrency Exchanges Amount to 35 Trillion Tomans

The central bank governor says the monthly transactions of cryptocurrency exchanges amount to 35 trillion tomans.

Mohammad Reza Farzin, the Governor of the Central Bank, announced statistics about the performance of cryptocurrency exchanges at the 11th Annual Conference on Modern Banking and Payment Systems.

According to him, currently, 218 brokers are active in the cryptocurrency sector, with the number of monthly transactions at these exchanges reaching 10 million and the value of these transactions being 35 trillion tomans.

Farzin considered these numbers to be large and stated that crypto can impact the country’s financial stability. We must enter this field carefully, with precise entry alongside precautionary policies, to maximize the benefits from this industry.

He emphasized that entering this field does not mean imposing unregulated restrictions, but rather regulating this industry within the framework of national interests.

The central bank governor made these remarks while, in the past month, two unexpected restrictions were imposed on the participants in this market.
