CEO of East Azerbaijan Water Company: Tabriz Drinking Water Only Sufficient for 75 More Days

The CEO of the East Azerbaijan Water Company states that Tabriz’s drinking water is only sufficient for another 75 days.

The CEO of the East Azerbaijan Regional Water Company has warned that if the current water consumption trend continues, Tabriz will only have drinking water for another 25 months.

According to this report, the severe reduction in rainfall in the current water year, with 218 millimeters compared to the normal average of 290 millimeters, has caused river runoff to decrease by 72 percent and reservoir volumes to decrease by 35 percent.

According to the IRIB News Agency, the Regional Water Company has put emergency water transfer plans, agricultural withdrawal restrictions, and infrastructure projects like connecting the Zarrineh Rood and Nahand Dam to the urban network on its agenda.
