China Increases Military Budget to Tackle Security Challenges

China’s military budget increase to address security challenges

The leadership of the Chinese government and Communist Party has defended its policy of allocating increasing expenditures for the military.

Wang Chao, spokesperson for the National People’s Congress in Beijing, stated that the People’s Republic must overcome complex challenges to ensure its security and take on the significant responsibilities of a major country. He added that the increase in the defense budget in recent years has been balanced and appropriate.

The National People’s Congress of China will hold its annual meeting for about a week starting Sunday, March 5th. On the first day, as usual, the government and party leadership will present their assessment of the economic growth index for the current year and how much budget will be allocated to the military.
