On Monday, the Chinese government stated, during the third day of military exercises in the Taiwan Strait, that peace in the strait is incompatible with Taiwan’s independence.

Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on Monday that Taiwan’s independence and peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait are two incompatible matters. If we seek peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, we must firmly oppose any separatist actions towards Taiwan’s independence.
