Chinese police suppress protesters with advanced technologies
Chinese security forces use the most advanced technologies to identify and arrest protesters against COVID restrictions and political oppression in the country.
According to human rights activists, after protests began in various cities in China following the deadly Urumqi fire last week, the police have been using facial recognition cameras and satellite trackers to identify the identity and residence of protesters and arrest them after the slightest presence in gatherings or protests.
The People’s Republic of China has been developing surveillance technologies on citizens, especially facial recognition cameras, for years.
This program is usually justified under the pretext of protecting citizens and combating organized crime; however, human rights organizations have always strongly condemned this approach by Beijing, describing its aim as suppressing the smallest dissent in the country.
