China’s President Invites Putin to Visit China

Russia says China’s President has invited Vladimir Putin to visit Beijing.

According to Russian state media, Xi Jinping has expressed hope that this visit will take place this year.

The Chinese President, who arrived in Moscow yesterday and met with Mr. Putin, will meet with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin today.

China and Russia are increasingly emphasizing the strengthening of their relations. The meeting between the two countries’ leaders lasted four hours yesterday, and they referred to each other as dear friends.

According to China’s Foreign Ministry, developing cooperation with Russia is a strategic choice based on China’s national interests.

China has said it is ready to help end the Ukraine crisis through negotiation, while the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin on Friday for war crimes in Ukraine. Meanwhile, Japan’s Prime Minister has also made an unannounced visit to Kyiv.
