Chinese President Has No Interest in Trade War and Tariffs

The President of China says trade wars and tariffs have no winners.

Xi Jinping, the President of China, before his visit to Vietnam today, published an article titled ‘Continue the Path of Consensus and Cooperation Hand in Hand and Write a New Chapter’ in a Vietnamese newspaper.

In this article, reiterating China’s stance on trade wars, he wrote: Trade wars and tariffs have no winners; protectionism leads nowhere.

We must firmly defend the multilateral trading system, maintain the stability of global industrial and supply chains, and support an open and cooperative international environment.

The President of China also stated that differences should be managed properly, and regional peace and stability should be maintained.

He emphasized that the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea should be fully and effectively implemented, actively advance consultations on the Code of Conduct for the South China Sea, remove obstacles, increase common ground, and truly transform the South China Sea into a sea of peace, friendship, and cooperation.
