Cinema House Warning: Strike and Ceasing Cooperation with Broadcasting Organization

The Iranian Cinema House issued a statement warning that if the threats and arrests do not cease and the detained filmmakers are not released, it will ask its members to go on strike, refrain from participating in cinematic and television projects, and stage a sit-in in front of the Cinema Organization.

The statement mentioned that efforts to secure the release of detained filmmakers have so far been unsuccessful, and in recent days, new summonses and arrests have taken place.

The Cinema House emphasized that it considers the charges such as acting against national security, disturbing public opinion, spreading falsehoods, and collaborating with foreign media, which have been attributed to filmmakers, to be unfounded.

In the latest instance, Hengameh Ghaziani and Katayoun Riahi, two actresses who appeared without mandatory hijab in front of the camera, were arrested. Since the start of the nationwide protests, a significant number of filmmakers, actors, and prominent cultural and artistic figures have been summoned or arrested.
