Minister of Communications’ claim: On election day, they wanted to cut the internet

Zarepour, the Minister of Communications, says that on election day and before it, there were numerous efforts to damage and disrupt the country’s communication network. Even images of this were published. We had an instance where three or four days before the election, they had dug one and a half meters into the ground and reached the fiber, but they hadn’t cut it yet. It was planned to do this on election day because they knew that on that day, patrols would be present, and digging wouldn’t be possible. In some areas, they had cut the pipe with a grinder, and it only required cutting the fiber cable with scissors. They were essentially prepared in advance.

Alongside physical attacks, various individuals reported cyber attacks which were reviewed and resolved. We had a significant number of attacks, such that on election day alone, there were nearly 70 instances of DDOS and DOS attacks.
