Close Battle Between Right and Left Wings in Sweden’s Election
The right and left wings of Sweden are engaged in a very close competition today in the country’s parliamentary elections.
Voting has practically started over two weeks ago in Sweden, with Magdalena Andersson, the first female Prime Minister in Sweden’s history and leader of the left coalition, facing Ulf Kristersson, the moderate leader of the right-wing.
The rise in popularity of the Sweden Democrats, a party that, despite its name, is extremist and strongly anti-immigrant and part of the right-wing coalition, is one of the key aspects of this election. The right-wing coalition, which now poses a significant threat to Sweden’s left, has used the increase in crime and the exaggeration of immigrant issues in the country to seriously improve its position.
