Closure of Some Clinics in Iran Due to Lack of Doctors

Closure of some clinics in Iran due to lack of doctors

Abulhassan Mostafavi, a member of the Parliament’s Education and Research Commission, stated that we have a shortage of 12,000 doctors in the country. This year, 11,000 medical students were admitted, but it takes 8 years for these students to enter the workforce. Therefore, due to the retirement and migration of some doctors annually, we will need more doctors in the coming years.

Due to the shortage of doctors, many of our clinics in towns have closed after 40 years. Therefore, we are looking into this issue in the commission to increase the capacity of towns to compensate for the shortage of doctors.
