Following protests by supporters of Palestine, Columbia University canceled its graduation ceremony.
The president of Columbia University in New York announced that the main graduation ceremony at the university has been canceled due to recent student protests against the Gaza war.
On Monday, May 6th, Nemat Shafik announced that smaller ceremonies will be held separately in 19 faculties of the university for this purpose.
Dozens of protesters at Columbia University occupied a building last Tuesday, blocking its entrances and hoisting the Palestinian flag from its window.
US President Joe Biden had previously condemned this action.
After this event, the main campus of Columbia University has been almost shut down.
